Defeated. Alone. Ashamed.
Everything seems to be falling apart around you- losing relationships, jobs, and money. The drinking/using seems to consume your whole life.
The things that once brought you joy are not enjoyable anymore.
You may feel embarrassed by the decisions you’ve made.
It can feel like you’re on a horrifying, rickety rollercoaster without a harness and unable to get off.
Drinking/using was fun at first, but now its just plain misery.
Perhaps you’ve tried changing on your own- maybe attending some AA/NA meetings. Perhaps you’ve been to treatment (maybe more than once).
And maybe you were successful for some days, months, or years, only to fall back into the rut over and over again. It can leave you feeling discouraged, disappointed, and helpless.
You may have had thoughts like…
“Why can’t I just stop?”
“Why can’t I just be “normal” like everyone else?”
“Is it even possible to have fun without using?”
“I’m so sick of apologizing”
“I’m so sick of breaking my promises”
“I’m so sick and tired of being sick and tired.”
If you are feeling this way, it can feel like substances have consumed your life. Like you don’t have control and are in the passenger seat in your own life.
It’s an exhausting and discouraging cycle to be stuck in.
You know you want to change, but you aren’t sure how. What’s at stake is important- a life free from the pain and chaos of substance abuse or succumbing to the same patterns over and over that prevent you from enjoying life.
The truth is, if you take the right action, you can find the path to healing and lasting change that lets you enjoy life each day.
Change is absolutely possible when you have the right support and guidance.
Why do we keep drinking/using even though it’s causing so many problems?
There is a reason we do what we do- even the behaviors that seem so destructive. At one point, drinking/using served a purpose, it was a solution to a problem.
There were emotional wounds or traumas that using substances seemed to ease (even if temporarily).
But over time this “solution” became its own problem (maybe even the source of many problems) and now you can’t seem to find a way out.
If you don’t know how else to deal with these feelings/problems, you go with what you know. And this is how the cycle of substance use continues, even when you know it’s destructive...
I am here to help!
Therapy helps get to the root cause of your substance abuse by figuring out what it was trying to help you with in the first place.
Whether it’s dealing with pain, trauma, loss of any kind, or any number of causes, we help get to what’s underneath the substance abuse.
By gaining clarity on this, we can find other ways of healing those wounds in a healthy way.
Once we can fulfill our needs in healthy ways, this opens us up for joy and peace in our lives. The substances are no longer in control.
You are back in the driver’s seat. A true sense of freedom and serenity pours in.
Now you can enjoy each day without the oppression of the substance.
No longer waking up hungover and sick, questioning what happened the night before and feeling dread and shame for your actions.
Now, you can wake up with clarity and peace of mind, knowing that the decisions you make are sound and from your true Self.
We take this a step further, ensuring that you have the tools and resources you need that can support you even after therapy has concluded. With that, you can have success and live your more preferred life.
It’s time for a change
If you’re ready to experience that change, to live a life with you in the driver’s seat instead of the substance, then I’m ready to help you on your path.
I know it can be hard to reach out. Asking for help will be the courageous first step on the path to your healing.
I am looking forward to helping you make that happen.
